City will not pay

Remember - you read this here:

From The Plymouth Herald today:
Cities like Plymouth will not be expected to contribute financially to the 2012 Olympic Games, Tessa Jowell, the Olympics Minister, said yesterday.
Ms Jowell, who was visiting Plymouth with Lord Coe, chairman of the 2012 London Organising Committee, said there were no plans to raise a council tax levy to pay for the Games.
"We have got the budget for the Games and we will keep it under tough scrutiny," she said during a visit to Plymstock School, a specialist sports college.
Lord Coe, the middle distance track legend, said that Plymouth's inclusion in the Pre-Games Training Camp Guide given to overseas teams could mean months of involvement in the year before the Games.

Of course, this is because we, the taxpayers of the UK, will be paying for some time afterwards...
